| MRS. JEAN PEAKE of Lethbridge passed away at the Edith Cavell Centre on Monday, July 19, 2010 at the age of 78 years.
Jean was born, raised and educated in Lethbridge, graduating from LCI. She worked for the Experimental Farm in Lethbridge, where she met Ron Peake. With their marriage she became an instant mother of two boys Robert and Lorne, and following their marriage came two more sons, Malcolm and Rick. Together Jean and Ron traveled with the Agricultural Research and Development to many different countries.
After the death of Ron, Jean worked at Art Williams travel and AMA Travel. Upon retiring, she and her special friend Frank Slezina traveled extensively in the Black Angus cattle business and for pleasure. Jean was an avid golfer, and a long standing member of the Lethbridge Country Club, winning several city championships. She was a member of the Lethbridge Legion and Lethbridge Curling Club. Jean also enjoyed baseball and playing bridge with many friends.
Jean is survived by her sons; Bob (Lillian) Peake of Lethbridge, Lorne Peake of Peace River, Malcolm Peake of Lethbridge, and Richard (Laurel Shuttleworth) Peake of Edmonton, her grandchildren; Coral-Lea (Warren) Kinniburgh, Rhonda (Quincy Jensen) Peake, Theresa (Jeff) Dietz, Robbie Peake, Stephanie (Brett) Harvie, and Ronald (Gina) Peake, along with 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her loving husband R.W. (Ron) Peake and very special friend Frank Slezina, Jean was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Chrissie Armit, sister Kathleen Erickson; and three brothers Andrew, William, and James Armit.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Lois Punton, officiating. Cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, #402 740 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0N9 or to a charity of one’s choice.
