Anne Bartz

ANNE BARTZ, beloved wife of the late Conrad Bartz passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Center on July 4, 2010 at the age of 88 years. She is survived by her children Ken (Alvina) Bartz, Don (Donna) Bartz, Marlene (Bruce) Hubbard, June (Doug) Dow and Roy (Janet) Bartz, along with ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Conrad Bartz, her parents Josef and Katherina Issler, her brother, Herman Issler, her sisters, Elsie Tetz and Irene Gwinner and her granddaughter Chani Hubbard.

Anne was born on March 4th, 1922 at Lichtentahl, Besserabia, Romania. She immigrated to Canada in 1924 with her parents. They had lived in Tripp, South Dakota for a few years before settling in Trochu, Alberta where they lived on a farm. She took her schooling at Fairmont School near Trochu. Anne married Conrad Bartz in 1943 and they lived on a farm near Monarch where they raised their five children. Life on the farm consisted of doing things together as a family, whether it was working hard or enjoying the many good times together. There are many memories such as making homemade sausage, the swimming pool, milking cows, raising chickens, and picking raspberries. When the work was done many evenings were spent playing music, cards, and enjoying each other’s company. After Conrad passed away in 1976, Anne moved to Lethbridge where she resided until her passing.

Anne was very active in her church, and loved quilting, sewing, and crocheting. Each year she made many quilts to be sent overseas for missions. She also traveled several times overseas to Germany and Israel. She loved cooking and her garden was full of vegetables and many flowers, which were a theme all around her house. She even made wine from her own grapes. Her most precious times were when her family was all together eating a big meal and celebrating an important event. Her life truly was an example of love and graciousness and her presence will be missed.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Christ Trinity Lutheran Church, 416 12th Street South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Jason Anderson, officiating.

Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre for their wonderful care and everyone for their prayers at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 9Z9
