Mildred McCurrach

MILDRED MARGRET McCURRACH of Nobleford, beloved wife of the late Donald Francis McCurrach, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 3rd at the age of 81 years.

Mildred was born on the farmstead at Keho Lake to parents Louise Suran and Augustav Zech on March 17, 1928. Mildred remained on the farm until meeting Donald, who would become her husband and partner for life, in 1950. Throughout her life, family and friendship were at her core. She was content to stay close to Nobleford her entire life with those close to her where she could help them all out, especially her grandchildren. While in Nobleford, Mildred became a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and was active in the executive for many years. She remained in Nobleford in her family home until three and a half years ago when she decided her new home would become the Blue Sky Lodge in Lethbridge. She was happy with her many new friends there and became especially close to May, Colleen and Audrey(who made her pretty every week!) Mildred often remarked about the wonderful staff, and we would like them all to know how much we appreciate the time they spent with her. Highlights for Mildred were holiday get-togethers, tea parties with Emma and Les and the recent Zech family reunion. The many great phone conversations she shared with her brothers, sisters and friends were priceless. Mildred loved sharing a good joke, trying her hand with lottery tickets and grab-bags and getting all dolled up for a day of shopping.

Mildred is survived and missed tremendously by her daughter Merle and grandchildren Aaron, Megan and Sheffield. She is also survived by sister Emma (Les), brothers Fred (Rena), Ted (Marg), Jack (Mable), and Don (Carol), brother-in-law Don as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Mildred is predeceased by her loving husband Donald and sons Mark and Duane. She is also predeceased by sisters Louise (Robert), Martha (Tony), Elsie (Roy) and brother Walter (Mary); and sisters-in-law Velma (Ron), and Audrey. Our apologies to those we may have missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Monday, March 8, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. FUNERAL CHAPELS, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Richard Brown officiating. Inurnment to follow in Archmount Cemetery.
