| On January 3, 1935 in the family home in Bowden Alberta, Bill started his miraculous life. After a courageous battle through many health issues, on January 27, 2010, WILLIAM JOSEPH (BILL) ATTWELL left his worldly body to continue his journey.
Throughout his life Bill was faced with many challenges and many blessings. After his parents passing in April and December of 1946, Bill was blessed with a large extended family that worked together to see him become the incredible Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Great Uncle and Grandfather he became.
Family has always been a source of great joy to Bill.
On Sept 28, 1963 he married his sweetheart Patsy Jean Howerton. Soon after the first of two sons Darryl James (now in Edmonton) was born, followed by Allan Jeffery (now in Calgary). Darryl has one daughter (Stephanie) and 3 stepchildren, (Adam, Neil & Cassandra). Allan met and married his love Wendy and now has a son Tyler and a stepdaughter Samantha. Along with his immediate family, he leaves to mourn; his sister Mary Hawkins, brother Robert Attwell, mother-in-law Mabel Howerton as well as aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Bill's family lived in several communities in Southern Alberta. One of his business ventures saw him moving his family in August 1977 to Lethbridge where he and Pat lived until his passing.
Bill's life was filled with many lifelong friends that he met through his volunteering and his spirituality. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church Lethbridge serving on many boards and commitees. Some of his other passions were, The Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, The John Howard Society, The Canadian Diabetes Association and The United Way of Lethbridge.
A Memorial Service, filled with music, will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Dr. Bruce Martin officiating.
Inurnment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s name may be made to the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, 1107 2A Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 0E6 or to First Baptist Church, 1614 5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0W3.
